The 411
So you are curious to find out more about the Youth Group here at Potomac Crest Baptist Church. We are excited to share with you who we are and what we are about. To be real simple and honest, we are a bunch of imperfect teenagers and leaders who are hanging out in the hopes that from being together we can help one another look a bit more like Jesus Christ. So naturally the question follows, what do a bunch of imperfect people do when they get together? Glad you asked.
Sundays
Sunday Mornings we have a "typical" Sunday school setup, 2 classes for grades 7 through 12. During that time we study the basics about our relationship with Jesus, the same things that all the other classes study in hopes that when it is over we can go home and grow deeper with the family.
Sunday Nights is a time to dive deeper. We meet with the purpose of finding the depth that is there in our relationship with Jesus. It may look like an Experiencing God study or conversation about what really happens when we pray. Right now this is in its infancy so who knows where it will lead. Hopefully it will look like teenagers who leave looking more like Jesus than when they came.
Wednesdays
Wednesday nights is our group time. It is about 2 hours of fellowship and fun. Typically we hang out and goof off for an hour doing things like playing life size board games, bobbing for snickers, or sitting in a circle, sorta, staring at each other. Then it is time to learn about what Jesus looks like in the life of the modern day teenager. .
Activities
Of course there are the activities. We try and get together two times a month to just hang out. It may mean a girls night, or playing paintball. It might even look like a scavenger hunt, car wash or climbing a mountain. Whatever it is, it's about spending time together.
