We are a body of believers committed to worshipping and serving Jesus Christ. As a Baptist Church, we join with likeminded Christians in spreading the gospel around the world.
Our slogan is more than just a catchy phrase. We hope that it gives you insight into just who we are.
"CHRIST CENTERED ... COMMUNITY FOCUSED"
Christ reached out to people of all ages and backgrounds and at Potomac Crest Baptist Church we desire to do the same. That's why you'll discover here ministries geared to various life stages and needs. We have a place for everyone to study the Scriptures, fellowship together, and minister to others through numerous service opportunities.
Meet Our Pastor

Dr. / Pastor J. Douglas Duty Jr. -
Born in 1963 in Nashville, Tennessee - I have been fortunate enough to have traveled all over this country as well as living and traveling various places halfway around the world.
In my life, as long as I can remember my family was active in a church family. Growing up I always saw my grandparents, parents and other family members actively involved in a personal walk and trust in the Lord and in the life of the church. I believe that it was just this, seeing a Christian life lived out day-to-day and not one just at the church building that began to form the very foundation of my acceptance of Jesus Christ as my Savior later in life.
In 1983, I found the woman of my dreams and in 1984, I married this great Godly woman (Deborah). Together we have raised two terrific kids (Ashley [26] and Aron [22]).
I first received the call to the ministry in mid 1995, while serving in the U.S. Army. God laid upon my heart the need and the passion to preach and to pastor, to reach people with His love and compassion. After 13.5 years in the Army, and months of prayer and searching, I yielded my life to God's call to the ministry, and began to retool my educational goals. I currently hold a Masters of Ministry and a Doctorate of Ministry in Theology.
I love people and I love to watch people grow in their love for Christ and living for Him. I take great joy when people start to live their daily lives as followers of Christ. My family takes an active role with me in serving through various areas, including the Preschool ministry, Vacation Bible School, drama/puppet team, greeter's ministry, and visitation. They are a wonderful asset and are very supportive of my calling as a pastor.
When I am "off," I love to spend time with my family (and our three grandkids). I enjoy factual books over fiction and my favorite places to hang out are Starbucks © and Borders ©. And every fall Friday and Saturday you can find me watching football... |
